Smartphone Back Glass Replacement
Why Phones Now Have Glass Backs
Modern smartphones use glass on the back for a few reasons:
-
Wireless charging works only through glass or plastic
-
Glass has a premium feel and look
-
It helps with signal reception compared to metal backs

What Are the Risks of Leaving It Cracked
Some people keep using their phones with cracked back glass. While the phone may still work fine at first, there are real risks:
1. Water and dust entry
A broken back compromises the phone's seal. Moisture and dust can enter and damage internal components.
2. Reduced trade-in or resale value
A cracked back makes your phone look damaged even if it works fine. Buyers will pay less or avoid it entirely.
3. Wireless charging may stop working
Cracks and broken glass can interfere with the alignment needed for wireless charging.
4. Deeper damage during a second drop
Cracks weaken the structure of the phone. Another fall may damage the camera, battery, or logic board.

How Back Glass Is Repaired at YKL
Back glass is usually fused to the frame with strong adhesive and sometimes heat resistant glue. It is not meant to be removed easily. Trying to pry it off can damage internal parts.
At YKL, we use the proper method depending on your phone model:
1. Laser separation
For iPhones and some Samsung models, we use a precision laser to weaken the adhesive and remove the glass cleanly.
2. Heat and chemical removal
On phones without laser support, we use controlled heat and specialized solvents to separate the broken glass.
3. Cleaning and resealing
We remove all glass fragments and adhesive, clean the surface, and fit new glass with factory grade alignment and pressure.
4. Testing after repair
We test wireless charging, signal reception, and camera functions to ensure everything works like it should.
